Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady General Manager Mary Cheeks Named as One of the Capital Region’s Women Who Mean Business by the Albany Business Review

SCHENECTADY, NY — Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady today announced that General Manager Mary Cheeks has been honored with the prestigious “Women Who Mean Business” award by the Albany Business Review.

The award, now in its tenth year, celebrates five local women who have made a difference in their communities, blazed a trail for others, and are leaving their mark on Capital Region business. Before becoming General Manager of Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady, Mary Cheeks was chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance for Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh and SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia. All three properties are owned and operated by Rush Street Gaming of Chicago.

Mary has worked in the gaming industry for 30 years and has an extensive background in finance. Her career began in Atlantic City at Resorts International Casino and Hotel as an auditor in the 1980s. She quickly worked her way up the ranks and eventually left to be the Director of Finance at SMG, an agent for the Atlantic City Convention Center. She then moved to work at Showboat, followed soon by Harrah’s where she served as regional vice president and CFO. Mary joined Rush Street Gaming in 2010 to be the vice president of finance for SugarHouse.
