RIVERS CASINO & RESORT SCHENECTADY PARTNERS WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF SCHENECTADY

SCHENECTADY, NY (May 8, 2018) – Rivers Casino & Resort team members took part in Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County’s Women Build Week, with Rivers volunteers participating in their first build day on Wednesday, May 9. Rivers also signed on to be the water sponsor for the Schenectady Habitat affiliate for the duration of the 2018 build season.

“We feel fortunate to be able to support Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County and volunteer for such a wonderful and important cause,” said Rivers Casino & Resort Vice President of Human Resources Kate McMahon. “Habitat for Humanity changes lives, and we are proud to do our part by helping our neighbors build a healthy and affordable home during National Women Build Week and throughout the summer.”

In addition to Women Build Day, Rivers Casino has agreed to be the platinum sponsor for Schenectady Habitat’s 6th annual Build-a-Bash event held on September 27, 2018 at the Schenectady Armory. They will also have a company team compete in the bash’s tug-of-war contest, and will be back on site for at least three more additional volunteer build days during the summer.

“Rivers Casino has really stepped up to form an impressive year-round partnership with Schenectady Habitat and we are very excited to have them on our build sites, supplying our volunteers with water, and becoming the lead sponsor for this year’s Build-a-Bash,” said Madelyn Thorne, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County.

During the course of National Women Build Week, which runs from May 5 – May 12, 2018, more than 100 local volunteers signed on to help build homes in the City of Schenectady’s Mont Pleasant Neighborhood.

Now in its 11th year, National Women Build Week, an initiative created by Habitat for Humanity and Lowe’s, has brought together more than 117,000 all-women construction volunteers to build or repair more than 4,500 homes. This year, Lowe’s donated nearly $2 million to Habitat for Humanity to support the 2018 National Women Build Week, which is taking place in 300 communities nationwide.
